The organization continuously needs volunteers and recognizes that they are an important part of our success. We also recognize that you are volunteering your time with us, so we wish to make your time here enjoyable and a rewarding experience.

To achieve our goal of providing education to the children, we rely on volunteers to teach our English & Computer classes, where possible.

We also seek volunteers with experience in the following sectors:

  • Sustainable living
  • Child Protection
  • Agriculture
  • Health
  • Teaching
  • Writing
  • And in volunteering with other NGO organizations

More information about volunteers with experience can be found here

Volunteers Responsibility

The reasonability of the volunteers whilst volunteering is to;

  • Maintain a standard of teaching, understanding that the students are from difficult backgrounds.
  • Remain positive and outgoing with the children, during the classes and through out your stay
  • Encourage the students to interact in English conversation, and to teach you Khmer.
  • Must commit to assigned tasks whether working  with children or community
  • Must respect to Cambodia beautiful culture and Cambodian difficulty
  • Must teach them learning to fish

Teaching

The basic structure of the English class is broken into the following:

  • Spelling
  • Grammar
  • Comprehension
  • Reading

You will receive PDF worksheets; these are a guide to a basic structured class, and how you run your class is up to you, as long as the children are progressing with English. But we have formulated this structure, so every volunteers don’t start from the beginning every time.

The children are asked to read (see rewards program), and we would like the children to read to you, to monitor & assess their reading on a weekly bias.

Our class format consists of worksheets and books to follow, and we encourage you to identify with the students, and restructure around the worksheets & books when needed.

Working Hours

Morning: 7.30 – 12:00 AM

Afternoon: 14:00 – 17:30 PM

Note: Volunteers are expected to take the English classes as a priority.

Some suggestions

Set your boundaries at the first lesson. We would like to teach the students to strive to achieve even if it is as simple as at the end of the week, run a “Fun Friday” schedule.

Reward Program

The children are encouraged to read books, and they are sponsored with every book thy read. With the sponsored money they receive, they are ask to present the director / project manager with an idea to help there family.

We also would like you to choose a student of the month (for the time you are here), someone who has excelled. This student will receive a gift (to be determined by director/Project co-ordinator)
